"im talking about a course in mechanical engineering department..."
What textbook is required?
Theory of Machines is the study of mechanisms, how parts are combined to accomplish a certain or desired motion.
Search for "Theory of Machines," "mechanisms," and "machine elements," and similar terms using <Google.com>, and <Dogpile.com> to find one or two current texts on the subject and many sites with animations of actual mechanisms.

Wow, some of these animations are cool. I would be a good skill to learn how to create such things. Does anyone know what program(s) are used to create such animations?
Many years back I have seen different types of mechanisms like 'Four bar, Geneva mechanism etc' in one single reference. There were many (may be about 50 over) simple illustrations. I remember this was from an old American publication (1960 ~ 1970) on 'Patent-right Guideline' .
Have any one seen this or similar illustrations in any other reference?
I like to animate them with the latest graphic tools.

In order to keep my skill sharp, I have been trying to reproduce some of the mechanisms in the "Ingenious Mechanisms for Designers and Inventors" Volumes.
..Talk about imagination. I think its a great excersise. Anyone doing anything similar to stay sharp??
