Re: Current and Voltage Transducer Vs Current and Voltage Transformer

Transducer is a generic term used for a device which transforms a signal (such as current voltage, temperature etc) to a corresponding (ratio) signal such as current or voltage, while the current (or voltage) transformer is a device which transforms a current (or voltage) signal to a corresponding current (or voltage) signal. So, current (or voltage) transformer is a type of transducer.
So, all current (or voltage) transformers are the current (or voltage) transducers but all current (or voltage) transducers are not the current (or voltage) transformers.

Transducer needs excitation like 50Vdc and when a voltage(0-400V) from a VT or a current(0-5A) from a CT is applied, it will give a signal(4-20mA) which when given to a corresponding current/voltage transducer in another location will indicate the actual current or voltage at the site.
