Five-second Biomass Power Generation will Exceed PV

09/19/2011 2:09 AM

According to the July 9, 10 at the National Rural energy conference, "Twelve Five" China will create 13 million kilowatts installed capacity of biomass power generation.Compared to "Electric Power Industry" second five "research report" released by China Electricity Council last year, this goal has quadrupled.

National Development and Reform Commission deputy director of the National Energy Board Secretary Liu Tienan said in the national rural energy conference, 2015, China's biomass power installed capacity will reach 13 million kilowatts. The target figure, even higher than the heady installed capacity of photovoltaic (Being developed "five" special plan in the new energy, determined the "Twelve Five" China's solar power installed capacity will reach 10 million kilowatts).

Biomass power generation is using biomass with the biomass energy to conduct electricity, which is one of the renewable energy power generation, including forestry waste burning power directly, agriculture, forestry, waste gasification power generation, garbage burned power generation, waste landfill gas power generation, methane gas power generation, etc. As of the end of 2010, biomass power generation capacity is about 550 million kilowatts.

East China University of Technology Professor Wu Youqing said in the national rural energy conference, theoretically china will produce 5 billion tons of biomass a year, equivalent to 10% of China's coal production, but is relatively backward in the application.

This information is tantalizing, but somewhat confusing.

What do "twelve five" and "second five" mean? (I'm thinking of successive 5-year plans, but is this guess correct?)

You mention 550 million kilowatts of biomass capacity by 2010. If so, adding 13 million kilowatts by 2015 would be a modest increase.

I may be reading this incorrectly, and I welcome any correction or clarification.

When we grow up , we want to have a National Energy Policy, too.

Right now we are too busy playing cops and robbers to pay any attention to it just yet I guess...
