Rather than struggling to type this much, you could write the answer for his question!

"His"? Does the forum know that the original poster is male?

Was that really necessary? This was a good question and exactly what CR4 is here for. The original poster does know how to fish and was fishing in the right spot because he did ultimately get his answer thanks to pritham. Google isn't the only place to go fishing.

You can very well google it. Normally dimensional tolerance is specified on 'plus' as well as 'minus', for example 500+/-0.5 mm, which means dimension in the range between 499.5 mm and 500.5 mm is acceptable. But when it can vary on negative side only, it is called negative tolerance. For ex. 500-0.8 mm means in no case it shall be more than 500 mm (if it is more it may pose serious problem while inserting or fixing it).

Tolerance is allowed on performance figures of any equipment by standards. For example if the efficieny commited is 95% it can be +- certain % as given by standards. In cases where no negative tolerance is specified it means the minimum value of95% to be maintained between declared and measured valuethough upward value is permissible. This is used motly in tenders where evaluation is done on savings that accrue due to energy savings over a pre determined period.
