The use of an ejector in mechanical refrigeration is a new application of an old idea. The railroads were using steam ejectors to cool their passenger cars a long time ago. This went away when Diesel locomotives supplanted steam engines.

A variation on this scheme is the cooling method employed by the environmental control system in modern passenger aircraft.

Has anyone built one to cool a house? The heat source could be a solar reflector. After the sun goes down, not as much cooling is required. Since the heat source is the sun, thermal efficiency isn't a factor.
