Be bold! Go for a Tata Pixel, if you can scrounge a real model. (Just twist their arm until you get one for free.) Talk "product placement"!

Hands down it's the Chevy Volt!!!

This is assuming that you're going to dump the original car and make a switch within 40 miles of the bank.

Obviously, it needs to be entertaining. So your choices are either something outlandish (if you want a chase scene), or something really amusing and funny.

Real police chases are boring and usually last only a few minutes. So, either you can do the classic Hollywood style smash-em up or a comedy of errors for laughs.

there aint no smash-em up,shoot up . this is not a michael bay film. the budget is 25k indian rupees. i.e 550$. i am not notifying any government authorities because it will be very costly. just to clear a single section of the road for shooting they charge 50k INR. i am doing it illegally (not robbing the bank) but will be driving on city streets without any safety. so i need a perfect getaway car that should be fast and safe.

All of this depends on what you are trying to achieve as far as the movie goes.

Since your budget is cramped and you can't work with the authorities to pull off a safe shoot, I would start thinking about how the robbery and getaway could be done cleverly so that you can use a non-violent and without a high speed chase.

THat will take some thinking, but the audience might appreciate a new, different, and unique solution to the classic problem. Everyone like a surprise.

Re: the perfect getaway

it involves a high speed chase. but the problem is way too much traffic and way too much people. i cant discuss the plot . but this is the climax. the bank is more like a mob bank. and cops wont be chasing but the mob will be. thts y i need some good advice on a getaway car. all stunts will be performed for real. no wires, no russian arm , nothing but real action in real time. my friend is an extremely skillful driver . he isnt good with car engine knowledge. so i need a car which can be useful in this situation.......

Re: the perfect getaway

Well, it is very hard without knowing exactly what the choreographed scene is supposed to be like.

Maybe that has not been worked out, but you have two problems to solve; one, how do you want the scene to play out, and two, what is technologically possible to do in the circumstances you have?

The two questions are intimately linked and I don't know how you would adequately explain the first question in enough detail that makes for a meaningful answer to the second.

Are there any schools for theatrics near you that you might approach to get answers? It seems that the right people to help you would be in the film industry.

Definetly TATA NANO. Go to the smallest lane quickly and disappear where other vehicles can not go.

Cars are quite a common theme for bank robberies, have you considered a scooter or motorcycle?

It may work better as a film development idea given the local culture and traffic conditions (film making is all about tailoring your film to your audience). I don't know if the area you are filming in is rural or densely populated but here are some points for using 2 wheel over 4 wheel transport.

A scooter or motorcycle has advantages over a car (it can go places a car cannot), costs less, is easier to acquire and can be used as either a believable method of escape (motorcycles are used in robberies both in real life and on film) or to inject an element of comedy in to your film (three bank robbers getting away on a single scooter, etc). Action scenes are also easier (and generally safer) to create and film.

What do you think.

A motorcycle, YES! For Indian Product-placement, use an Indian-built, 500cc Royal Enfield motorcycle. If there are three robbers, better, have them keep shifting all over the bike, jumping-off, jumping back-on, going down stairs , going down narrower alleys than a tata Nano, have the Enfield decked-out in "police-LIKE" accessories. If the bike didn't crash/stall, they'd get away, even on an Enfield (the "perfect" 1955 motorcycle). If its young guys, have the Mother of one of them force them to"run an errand/pick-something-up" AFTER the robbery(--ALL races, have "Jewish-Mothers" God Bless them). Drop off one robber, pick-up a Rich Uncle (still three )...brushing-against (and being stopped!) a cow (sacred in Hindu religion), with a priest dressing them down. At each stop, a nearby cop, could say,"You look like one of the bank robbers", and then the Mother, the Uncle, the priest each defend the robbers, and the cop's convinced and goes away...the robbers lose the money from the robbery and it finds its way into three different people: the hands of a good untouchable, --a cop looking for the robbers, and the banker from the bank that was robbed, who laments, "We were trying to spread this damn money around when we let those robbers rob us this am! I should have just thrown it out the window into the street!

Why a getaway car? Why a bank robbery at all? Nobody robs banks anymore in India.

The smart criminal nowadays gets in on the ground floor of a scam.....2G, 3G, CWG....take your pick. The smallest of these has netted $5 Billion. The biggest banks can't even count so much, let alone keep so much cash.

If you make a movie with a bank robbery in it, people will be rolling in the aisles...it will be branded an old-time comedy.

Rick-shaws! Three separate rick-shaws. And of course, chased by a gaggle of inept police in rick-shaws. And then, all of the "police chase" cliches, like the PIT maneuver, spike strips, helicopter, J-turn, and finally the foot chase, and the tazer.

" I know what your thinking, was that five shots, or six? Well, to tell you the truth, I don't remember myself. But seeing as how this is a 44 magnum, the most powerful handgun in the world, and will blow your head clean off, you have got to ask yourself Do you feel lucky? Well, do you punk?"

Hey, if this goes well, you might be able to do a regular series. Bait rick-shaws.

(Done in the voice over style of John Bunnell off the American TV program 'World's Wildest Police Videos')

"This robber thinks he can outrun the law, well he is mistaken. Even more baffling is his choice of vehicles....a simple rickshaw. Here you see him flying through red lights narrowly missing oncoming trafiic. Now he is heading into a residential area, this chase is getting more dangerous by the second. Suddenly we see a passanger exit the moving vehicle, the police now have a foot chase on their hands."

I guess the other question to ask is what vehicles do you have access to given limited budget and resources?

I am assuming you were not planing to go into a car or motorbike dealership for a 'test drive'

Can you provide more information please.

Question I'd like to ask is "are the police or bank guards armed in this region?", If they are, the 'shoot' could become a bit literal.

So, what are the options then. That would have been a good piece of information to know from the beginning.

Inja, really? I would propose not a car, but a pedicycle. It is more authentic. James Bond did it, so there is some credibility. Don't think Mr. Bond robbed a bank though.

What bank are you going to rob? Don't do BoA as it is mine, go for Chase or Goldman Sachs.
