Historic Incidence of Type 2 Diabetes

10/14/2011 4:06 PM

I am having a lot of difficulty in getting historic incidence data for Type 2 Diabetes. It seems like a simple search would come up with something but I have attempted searches using many different search phrases and can't seem to get the data I am looking for.

I am looking for the number of Type 2 Diabetes cases for each of the past 25 years.

Any referral would be greatly appreciated.

Thank You

Gavilan

Have you tried a Google search of: Type II Diabetes multi race gender historical data

If not, give it a shot.

Problem could be using a "2" instead of a "II"

Greetings! My wife is a Certified Diabetes Educator, and is a degreed Dietician, and she has told me part of the reason the US has vastly increasing numbers of diabetics is that the government has been lowering the threshold at which you are considered a diabetic. I don't remember any numbers offhand, but keep this in mind when just getting the numbers of diabetics in the USA.

A google search diabetes mellitus type 2 timeline looks promising. Let us know if any of these provide results you are looking for.

Do remember that any statistics more than a few years old will not reflect the true story. Up until recently, people dying from Type II Diabetic problems were often not ever diagnosed as being diabetic, even when they died. The death certificate will say something like heart attack, stroke or similar........

My grandmother had open leg wounds for most of her life, she died of a heart attack, she was never ever diagnosed as being diabetic........

There are many more diabetics around that have never been diagnosed as such, than have.....the disease often only makes itself obvious when something serious happens like a coma, stroke, heart attack or death.......

It's probably a cover up by the big sugar corporations.
I've been told I'm full of sugar... or that's what I thought they said...

Thanks for your comments.

I still can't find ANY numbers regarding the yearly incidence of Type II Diabetes. At least not any historical numbers.
