Charts in Excel 2010

10/20/2011 3:37 AM

Microsoft Excel no longer provides the chart wizard. Instead, you can create a basic chart by clicking the chart type that you want on the Insert tab in the Charts group.
This classic piece of Microsoft nonsense sumarizes nicely why I hate their products.
My main use for excell is for graphing...
In what way do they think this is an improvement. And in what way does that quote from 'help' actually tell me anything? I can't find the 'Charts' group.
WTF is the charts group anyway...it's not a tab.
Classic case of complication to the point of unusability

OK I found it!
Yes it's on the Insert tab, just like it says... but I was put off and angered by first 8 words of missinformation. In what way did they thing those 8 words would help anyone????
All they needed to say is "Chart functions are in the 'Insert' tab".

The insert tab is not in the caharts group, they need to lean punctuation.
Where is ER? She'll sort 'em out.
Less is more, but I suppose it's too much to hope that MS will ever realise that

You need to read Edward R. Tufte's "The Cognitive Style of PowerPoint," which is a delicious send-up of "chart wizardry."

(The AutoChart representation of "Fourscore and Seven Years Ago..." is alone well worth the price.)

I've just realise that if I read the help message back to front, it makes more sense.
I sometimes get the same effect when talking to Mrs Cat... there is too much irrelevant information, so that when she finally gets to the point I've glazed over.
Quick am I too late top delete that? I hear paws on the stair...

Powerpoint, is that like, same s#!t different pile?

I was blown away with that charts also. Try to repeat what you did before can really make you want to beat a cat against a wall.

The newest version of Ubuntu Linux is going the same way. Ubuntu 11.04 has an optional and 11.10 has it's mandatory display mode that looks a lot like Windows 7. Very hard to find things now. Hard to get anything done. Sometimes you have to just remember where things are because you can't use common sense any more.

There must have been a layoff at Redmond Washington because other operating systems, local government, national government, the tax code, etc. all seem to be getting infected with the M$oft way of disorganizing everything.

Making the software that is currently available only somewhat incompatible with old files, software and people creates an environment where there is pre$$sure to update all $oftware without having the total incompatibility that encourages people to evaluate $oftware from other vendor$. Thu$ there is alway$ a market for new $oftware to replace the $oftware you already paid for to make the $ame old graph$.

Microsoft sucks. They have to change perfectly logical, good stuff and make you go half crazy looking for the solution or you would discover that the "new and improved" version is just a rehash of the old system.

Very few other over-priced products in the world are released to the unsuspecting consumer without being fully tested and in complete form. It's left to the consumer to de-bug and re-learn the software.

Kinda like buying a car with the lug nuts hidden inside the frame.

Hey it might be bad press, but at least it's press.
