KOKEN Barber Chair

10/28/2011 9:09 AM

I just wanted to thank you all for your input last month on my antique barber chair. You may remember I was looking for help with painting the porcelain. Here are before and after pic's for your perusal.

genemdragon,

Although I was not able to assist you, I did see the thread.

Very, very nice refinish job on the chair.

Thanks for coming back with photos.

Regards - KJK

VEEEERRYYY Nice! Well done. Accomplished in about a month, that's impressive. Right down to the razor strop.

Say, what's in the cooler in pic #1?

post script: You appear to be a 'chair' person... four shown in image #1.

How about giving us a little information on what you did, and how you did it.

Did you use paint, or something else?

It's quite a transformation.

Thank you for the kind words. My area of expertise is the leather tooling. Beyond that, I asked a lot of questions! You guys definitely gave me some great advice. Sherwin-Williams sold me a super adhesion primer that they said would work well on glass. It really did work well. After painting I had too take a rubber mallet to the back piece because of the new thickness of the paint and the leather. The paint and primer stood their ground. I am not extremely happy with the nickle plating but the shop told me it was the best they could do so what's a guy to do. I just picked up a headrest so that will be the final piece before putting it on ebay and seeing what I can get for it.
