Hi
Can we orient Gate Valve Hand wheel at downwards. If no then what would be the problem..
Thanks & regards
One of the problems is crud getting into the stem threads and packing/seal.

your ok ( no problem ) with pointing down /Air/water/gas/
If you are using for gas ck, to see if it approved for that gas use.
Please explain why you think the issue in Post 1 does not apply.
It depends on the design of the actuator and the installation of the valve.
Here's one that isn't designed for bottom mounted handwheel (US Navy photo):
Fisher's 1977 is designed for vertical actuation on a horizontal valve stem, position 3 shows the handwheel at the bottom:
Just out of interest; why would Fisher go to the trouble, if keeping the shaft horizontal was not desirable?
good one!
