Leuze MSI 100 Saftey PLC

11/10/2011 2:23 AM

Greetings CR4 Contributors;

I have a problem with loading software for the Leuze MSI100 safety PLC. I have loaded this software before on other 32bit laptops but I am having difficultity loading it on a Samsung RC720 64bit laptop, I get some problems, Like Internal Error:ProgID of Bus Navigatornot set in properties.st1. This is the main error that I am getting, any ideas?

With this problem even the software that you write is worthless, you can save it, but it is useless because you can't copy it to another computer as it is missing bits and pieces, any ideas?

Best Regards

Joe

I would hazard a guess that the software was designed for 32-bit systems. Possibly running it in compatibility mode will work.

Assuming that you have Vista or Win7, do the following:

  1. Right-click on the program's icon.
  2. Select Properties
  3. Click the Compatibility tab
  4. Check the "Run this program in compatibility mode for" box.
  5. Choose which OS you want to emulate.
  6. Click OK.

You may have to play around to see which OS will work.

Warning! This may not work at all. In such a case, you should contact the manufacturer directly. They may have a patch or something. Who knows?

Anyway, good luck!

In the manual, http://www.leuze.de/downloads/las/08/ba_msi100_2011-02_en.pdf, on page 34 it says to use Windows XP or 2000, SP4 or 2. What OS are you using on your new Samsung PC?

Incompatible OS. Change to a 32 bit OS of a compatible type according to the software maker. R.T.F.M.

As I said with much more detail. I DO believe in the RTFM concept however.

Have you had experience with the compatibility mode on Win7? I'd be interested to know what problems you've had with it.

Hi Thanks to all contributors,

I think that you are right about it being a problem with using a 64 bit processor.

I will try the latest version and see if that helps

Best Regards

Joe

Did you try using compatibility mode in Win7?

MSIsafesoft 2.7.1 , I guess is the latest version, has been tested on XP-SP3, Vista-SP2 and Windows 7. Thats what my software's "About" says. So I think it has been tested only on 32 bit systems. Thats why you might be unsuccessful running it on a 64 bit platform.

If you have an older version, you can perhaps upgrade to the latest and then try your luck.

So Joe Sparky, how are you getting on?

If any of the suggestions have helped, or if you've found your own work-around then please let us know.

This is a collective learning process.

I sent him a PM last night. He's hopefully just swamped with work.

I remember when we had a lightning strike at the last place I worked that fried every single VFD on our busiest coater. We worked for 2 weeks for probably 18 hrs a day to get the thing fixed. Part of the problem was that we had to get all new make and model drives - different set of parameters to set/adjust/tune.

Perhaps he's going through the same kind of thing.

Hi Mikerho, I have tried all the solutions that have been suggested, with no success.

The ultimate solution was to bring one of my old 32 bit processors back from retirement and load the software on it. That works fine but I did have some problems with using it at one particular factory, let me explain:

When the laptop was powered up by the mains adaptor, it was almost impossible to control the operation of the laptop touch pad for control of the mouse, it was all over the place. I checked with the customer to see if he had simular problems with his computer, but he didn't. I then decided to power the laptop of the inverter in my vehicle and the touch pad then worked fine.

The only thing that I could think that caused the problem with the touch pad when connected to the reticulated mains supply was that there was some HV Transmission Lines directly above the building.

Again sorry for the delays in responce to your helpful assistance.

Very Best Regards To All

Joe
