As TonyS has indicated, conservation.

Timers on high consupmtion appliances such as water heaters. Nobody needs hot water at 2:00AM.

Turn things off when they are not in use!

The devices you are referring to are snake oil. Go with Tony on this one.

Start with timeswitches, thermostats, occupancy detectors and high-efficiency lighting sources. Change the kettle for a jug one and only boil sufficient water for immediate needs. Turn off and unplug everything that is usually left on standby.

Once that's all done, re-post for some more ideas.

use jumper cables as the people that steal power to grow illegal drug plants just don't get caught.

Never mind its not worth the risk!

Best to conserve and use timers like has been posted.

What you were asking for would be used in industrial power factor corrections. It corrects inductive loads and reduces harmonics on the system. Unless your running some BIG motors or other inductive loads there not much you can do.

Put your electricity "vampires" on a timer.

Power tool battery charger - if you leave this plugged in 24/7 put it on a timer.

Computer equipment - Again, timer. Unless you are up surfing the web at 2AM, use a timer to turn computer and related equipment (printer, ect) off during off peak hours. Yes, it takes a few extra moments to boot up your computer but you will save electricity.

Better yet, turn the computer and related equipment on only when you are using it. Remember to run software updates though.

Run your dish washer/clothes washing machine only when fully loaded. Partial loads do nothing but run up your electric bill.

Replace incandescent lamps with CFL's.

Water heater (as pointed out above), put it on a timer.

Cell phone charger, when not in use, unplug it.

Outdoor area/security lighting, put some or all on a timer.

If you run a dehumidifier in your basement/crawlspace, put it on a timer.

Check for drafts at windows and doors. Chalk where required. If you have blown insulation in your attic and it is NOT at least 12 inches thick/deep, blow in some more. This is the single most easiest/cheapest thing you can do to conserve energy.

Also as stated above - turn off lights when not in use.

As far as miracle devices to reduce electrical consumption/cost you may want to consider the Lyndoor Industries wireless electricity enhancement generator "The Enzitator". The product literature claim that this product really stands-up and out-performs the others.
