Searching For an Ethernet Panel Jack

11/18/2011 12:49 PM

Hi All,

I am looking for a through-panel ethernet cable jack. I want the jack to have a female RJ45 socket on each side. I'm mounting this in a 1/16" thick panel. Ideally the jack would snap into the panel.

I've done extensive searching for one of these, on Grainger, McMaster, Allied Electric, Digikey, and Mouser, and the only thing I've found is a round type connector that provides NEMA 4 protection, which I don't need. This connector also costs $15, which is exorbitant. There are plenty of snap in female-female jacks, but they are made for a Keystone style panel like a wall socket, and won't snap in securely to a 1/16" panel.

I feel like I must be missing something. If what I'm looking for truly doesn't exist for under $15, than I think I need to start a business immediately...

If anyone knows a place to find this sort of thing it would be most appreciated.

Thanks Kramarat, but this one is more or less the same as the one I've already got, except that this one costs $28 .

You really would think that with the ubiquity of Ethernet that what I'm looking wouldn't be so hard to find...

Beautiful! Thank you, Solar Eagle, much appreciated. This is still not exactly what I had originally envisioned, but it is close enough.

I also found this, from the same vendor, which looks a little more professional, and is still half the price of my original connector.

Looks like a GA to me. We have to remember that GA's are guide posts for someone that's doing a search for pertinent information. They're not always used that way though.
