Try "Google" and "Hydrotest Procedure"

The criteria for the holding time is to have enough time to be sure that there are not significant leaks due to defective material. Depending on the volume of the system that you are testing, it might be enough 10s - used for single pipe test during manufacturing - or it might be required to have 24h or even 48h for long piplelines sections - where you cannot do a detailed visual inspection for leaks and the drop in pressure, even if you have a leak, can take very long time.

Therefore go to the code of your application where probably is mentioned the minimum holding time required.

Dear

hydrotest pressure=1.25 max allowable woring pressure

hold time = min 10 mintues or due reqired visual inspection

this according to NBIC (National Board inspection code) ASMEVIII

S2.6.1 HYDROSTATIC PRESSURE

TESTING

When performing hydrostatic pressure testing

for verification of leak tightness or when

required by the Jurisdiction, the following shall be met:

a) Hydrostatic pressure test shall be between

the calculated maximum allowable working

pressure and 1.25 times the calculated

maximum allowable working pressure,

and held for a minimum of 10 minutes or

as required to perform a complete visual

For water potable mains, AWWA requires a minimum of 2 hours hydro test......it's leakage and pressure test combined. Typically, maximum test pressure is 1.5 x Working Pressure.

As per ASME B 31.3 minimum holding time is 1 hour for pipes and again it varies from client to client requirement

Why not ask the Engineer/Surveyor for the company that is supplying burst indemnity insurance cover for the equipment?
