Crane Selection

12/05/2011 3:50 AM

I have to lift the one exchanger and vessel assembly, following data are available:

Radius : 16 meter

Weight: 100 tons

Lift from ground floor equipment height 5 meter and free area for crane movement, can any one suggest me which capacity crane is ok to perform the work.

Also please tell me the process how this may calculate.

Yeah, great. An suggestion from a mischevious anonymous CR4 reader, who hasn't seen the job, causes major equipment damage and personal injury. Who sues whom <rhetorical question>?

Go away, and discuss the lift with the representative from the firm that is supplying the crane, on site, with a full overview of the job.

consult a large crane rental company. they should know almost immediately what crane to use.

a 150 ton capacity hydraulic crane is a seat of the pants guestament.

it does'nt take a rocket scientist to caculate the size of the rig needed. the op has given enough info to determine what size crane is needed. i'm just to lazy to look it up, espescially when there's no money in it for me.

i've done this kind of work all my life. the operator and riggers are well aware of the dangers involved and have years of schoolling before they are allowed to do this type of work, though i can see how it might scare the less informed.

Not enough info to spec a unit. You need to consult a rigger in your area. They will help you determine the correct unit and give you cost at the same time.

actually, he has given all the needed information. weight, radius, and head room is all thats needed. i doubt if i'ld waste my time by inspecting the job, but he should considerer placing bids. this job will cost six figures.

No, "R" is of the unit to be picked as I see it. He says he the crane is clear area, but what does that mean. I would need to know set back distance and other items before I could size a crane to pickup 100 ton. Even if only rasing a few meters.
