Installation of PT & TT Across a Senior Orifice

12/07/2011 5:47 AM

why pressure transmitter install at upper stream instead of lower stream and temperature transmitter install at lower stream instead of upper stream across a senior orifice?

Could this be a typographical error on the drawing?

According to Emerson's (Daniel) Fundamentals of Orifice Measurment technical paper (pages 3 & 4):

Flowing Pressure (psia) Pf1 or 2
The pressure is measured at either the upstream (1) or downstream (2) tap. It has been common in the natural gas
business to use the downstream tap.

Flowing Temperature in Degrees Rankin - Tf
The flowing temperature is normally measured downstream from the orifice and must represent the average temperature of the flowing stream in degrees Rankin.

I am not certain whether the absolute line pressure sensing by multivariables is upstream or downstream, but I'll see if I can determine that.
