Murali....

Perhaps, instead of asking elementary mechanical questions that you can easilly resolve yourself, you could go to another knowledge forum.... say one devoted to medicine.

There, you can pose other elementary questions such as: "What are the kidneys and how do they work ?" ...or perhaps, the eternal: "How does one cure a stomach ache ?"

I am sure that the medical establishment will welcome your discourse with open arms...

Double pipe heat exchangers are prefered on Friday afternoon, because it is almost the weekend and we don't really care at that point.

I personally prefer a triple pipe heat exchanger...

Some people even live in them...

A double pipe HX is used for reducing the risk of contamination of foods or other valuable fluids in case of leakage of the heating/cooling fluid. The double pipe scheme allows a safe fluid in the middle, so that leaks of a problem fluid can be detected before making their way to the food or valuable fluid.

In food processing, for example, there might be a refrigerant that cannot be allowed to leak into say fruit juice. An intermediate fluid such as propylene glycol (which is nontoxic) minimizes the chance of leaks, because the refrigerant would have to pass through two barriers to get to the protected product.
