Power Converting

i want to convert 480 volt 3 phase to 120 volt single phase. is this possible

Sure it is... use a single phase step down transformer.

no problem at all. just pick the transformer size you need.

Yes, but obviously you don't understand why. This is such a basic question that I'd want to hear why our AP thinks that it cannot be done before explaining anything further.
