DC Load of 450KW DC Motor and 800HP AC Motor Load

Dear Engineers,

I have a load of 450KW DC Motor and 800HP AC Motor Load. I want to sizing a transformer for that load. Kindly please clarify that, is it 450 KW DC Motor Load is equal to 450 KW AC Motor Load? Is it correct or kindly please advice me the correct method to calculate the load.

In rectifying some of your AC to DC, there will be a loss of some few percent. It might take about 475-500KW of AC to be rectified to 450KW DC.

As Tornado said allow for rectifier losses. I don't think they will be as high though. But as you have to allow for starting loads your transformer should be sized accordingly this will give the capacity absorb the rectifier losses.
