TN-S

12/18/2011 6:41 AM

Dear Gurus,

For TN-S system, I know for TN-S system it is 3phase, 5W scheme, the system grounded neutral (N) and the equipment grounding protective conductor (PE) are separate, the system has redundant sources. It is possible to use only 3P breaker at the incomer and bus coupler since we will not use the neutral as current carrying conductor?

Basically you're being told to do your own homework.

Three questions in succession, all pointing towards a test paper you have been set. If you do the test on your own you will learn so much more. When you come to your final exams will you be able to ask an internet forum the answers, no you won't! Learn to think for yourself.

Yes! you can! provided, you are not connecting any standby source also to the same bus (in which case, at least one of the breakers, either of the incomers or the bus coupler, MUST be four pole). And, it is wromg to say that the neutral would not carry any current. Whether thro a breaker or not neutral conductor would surely carry the unblance currents.
