Hi,

not really very much news.

Grease has not proven reliable.

Oil lubrication widely used in hard disc drives.

Air as supporting medium seldom used as gaps have to be very small.

Problems with air uptake and bubbling in oil and pushimg the oil out of the bearing gap was a problem solved in the early 80ies or before and finally the hard disc motor manufacturers (japanese) learnt how to circumvent these problems. (Relatively new patents on this topic).

We made different types (most air supported) and have run one example with the inner part nonrotating and the outer rotor diameter 55mm with a speed of nearly 3000rev/sec what would be the plastic failure limit by centrifugal forces in the rotor!
