Synchronizing-Reg

12/26/2011 2:52 AM

Dear sir,

we have 30MW power plant, the generation is 11kv, then we step up it to 110kv for due to grid.normally we synchronizing alternator with grid at 11kv bus.due to our home load condition we want synchronizing grid at 110kv side. switch yard is 500meter away from the synchronizing panel. is any problem come?, any distance limit is requird?guide me,

thank you,

Sir I think you cant do this because your genration is 11kv ....and for synchronization the voltage levels of of bus and incoming machine must be same ....and here your bus is at 110kv

and for synchronization distance does not play any role...

Hi,

I dont see any problems in sync. operation done at 110kV side. As far as I understood from your question, you step up to 110kV Side through GSU T/F, and synchronize with 110kV bus through a 110kV CB which acts as a synchronizing breaker. So make sure you have all the sync commands goes to this CB as per normal procedure.

I too do not foresee any problem in synchronising either at the 11kV bus or at the 110kV bus. Also, 500 m distance between the panel & the yard is no problem. Current travels much faster that it crosses this 500m in a fraction of a micro second.
