To Know the Required Power Motor

Dear friends, i decided to fix one weight elevator in my company. That lift should take around 1ton weight from ground to 50 ft height.. So i want to know how can i select motor for that.. If you know, please tell me..

One hp = 33,000 ft-lb/min or 550 ft-lb/sec. Your load is 2000 lb × 3.2808 ft/sec = 6561.6 ft-lb/sec = 6561.6/550 ≈ 11.93 hp theoretically. Because of acceleration and gearbox inefficiency, you would need a 15 hp motor (or maybe 20 hp). The gear reduction ratio will depend on the drum diameter you use for the lifting cable.

If you have to ask an open forum I really don't think you should be designing this lift. The legal implications are a minefield to say the least. Contact a reputable lift company.
