Inventor Saving Hassle

01/02/2012 11:25 PM

Hi all.......Back to work?

Has anyone got a clue how to save a rather large Inventor 2012 model back to Inventor 2009 format.

Saving as .sat or .step is not an option as all intelligence is lost in this process.

I find it difficult to believe that there isn't a simple option somewhere (like a program on the internet for $29.95 that will do the job)!

Thanks to all, in advance

Beej

Why are you going backwards? maybe you could invent a time machine? ..lol,,just kidding....I'm not sure this can be done without losing info...iPropWiz will convert files from the 2009 format to the v5, you may check their forum there for guidance...

Hi S-E

The reason to go backwards is due to my client only having Inv 2009 and they don't want to upgrade at this time to 2012.

What I am trying to do is sooooo fundimental in AutoCAD "Save As". In fact, I can't think of any program that does not allow 'reading down'. Obviously, 'reading up' would always be a problem!

What I have now discovered is, (IMO) Autodesks intent to make everyone buy the latest release of their product. This is totally unrealistic (as for example I am still quite happy with AutoCAD 2006, MS Office 2003 etc etc).

Unfortunately, none of your links provided the 'silver bullet' but many thanks all the same!
