The correct equipment to use in hazardous area Zone 1 is that which is approved for use in Zone 1.

ATEX is a pan-European directive.

ATEX directives categorize safety of equipment and installations.

CE marking indicates a NOTIFIED BODY is responsible for surveillance.

Your tools, presumably electrical, should be marked by ATEX group and category AND CENELEC (www.cenelec.org) marking.

The existance of an ATEX apparatus certificate number does NOT mean it is certificated for a zone 1 area!!!

Be carefull!!

Your question is too general, but yes you can. Where is your location ?

If you are subject to EU standards, here is an example of what you need to know.
