Greetings All,
I thought some would find this discovery interesting.
In the process of upgrading the electrical system in a very old tunnel on a local collage campus, I came across this panel which was to be demo'd:

In my eyes this thing is a piece of art and in very fine condition.
This panel was installed in a very heavy steel tub with no markings on it. I think the tub was added at a later date as there is still evidence of knob and tube wiring in areas of the tunnel and I assume that this panel was originally installed exposed.
The larger circular objects adjacent to each fuse are on/off switches.
The darker metal and porcelain fuses which I assume are original have a head stamp on the metal band that reads "Chicago Fuse MFG. Co." A Google search shows that Chicago Fuse Mfg. Co. was founded in 1889.
The glass fuses are head stamped "Electro Fuse". This fuse has what appears to be a paper insert with printing on it. I can make out "UND. Lab Inc Insp." I think these are newer. Google search revealed nothing on "Electro Fuse".
This is a close up of the tags on the lower right (sorry for the blur):

The top tag reads:
States Electric Company
Manufacturing And
Designing Engineers
Chicago
The bottom tag is an IBEW emblem with the number 17465
The emblem is similar to the one below except it reads "International" rather that "National" and does not bear a date:

The tunnel I worked in was constructed in the 1898 - 1900 period based on my research in the college "Plant and Facility Construction" archives. Unfortunately, the archive did not contain any info about this panel.
I have Goggled "States Electric Company Manufacturing and Design Engineers Chicago" and several variations there-of but cannot find any info about this company or panel.
I sent an inquiry to my local IBEW regarding the tag with number and am awaiting a response but in the mean time, anybody have info on this panel or company?
When/if I here back from my local I will post here.
