Need Technical Explanation about Noise Issue between DC cable and AC Cable

01/18/2012 12:46 PM

Dear All,

pls help, give an explaination about noise issue if there is 3 cores cable (service voltage 480 VAC, 3 phase) laid nearby in the same cable ladder with 7 cores control cable )service voltage 125 VDC).

There cables are armoured cable. Three phase cable will eliminate inductance each other theorytically.

thank you for the help.

You didn't really ask a question or refer to the two drawings you included.

If you want to know which of the two modes of laying cable on the pictured cableways is correct then Mode 2 provides the necessary segregation of services that will satisfy crosstalk immunity and installation code requirements (in most instances), looks neater and is easier to service too.

The nett field around a 3phase co-sourced bundle will only null if the current in all three phases is balanced. If there is any difference then there will be a nett field that could couple undesirably to other unsegregated or unscreened services.

Did you mean the control cables are armoured or that all the cables are armoured? Is it (mechanical) armour or (electrical) screening? To work as an electrical screen, mechanical armour must be metallic and properly grounded. An electrical screen if not an armour should also be grounded correctly.

If the cableway is metallic it should also be grounded.

I've finished guessing, what do you really want to know?

Wal,

Yes, You are correct, i don't write yet my question clearly.

All of the cables are armoured and using metalic amour and properly grounded.

So, if i lay cables by using mode 1, then is it possible that crosstalk will occur ?

thanks

best regards

Possible? Yes...

Possible with that amount of DC offset? questionable...

If the world were a perfect place then one solution would be all that we would need. Each situation has its own uniqueness and therefore testing and evaluation will be needed.

If you have already laid them per Mode 1 and grounded as you say then they should be fine. Only caveats are that only one end of the shielding should be connected to ground and that the grounding system is properly designed and implemented.

Please tell us a little bit more about the application. There may be some other unique environmental issues/application limitations that other contributors are aware of.
