Why don't you just google it yourself? If you're not going to learn about these valves as you should , at least learn how to find the info yourself....

Basic function of these two valves are same but different name has been given due to specific services of each. Safety valve keeps the system safe by releasing the extra pressure of the fluid to open atmosphere or to atmosphere through vent system, while relief valves keeps the system safe by releasing the extra pressure of the fluid to the console or vessel at low pressure and fluid is available for recycle. Both these valves are used for both gases and liquids.

Examples: Oil relief valves are used in lubrication system of rotary machines. Relief valve releases extra pressure of oil to L.O. consol.

Safety valve on steam drums releases extra pressure in atmosphere to keep system safe.

Are you the new generation of Chief Engineer, Maintenance Supervisor, or Technical Coordinator???? I bet you have an impressive degree but ask these basic questions we used to be required to define PRIOR to receiving our endorsments....

Do your homework son, until then dont jump into the deep end of the pool until you can swim, remember floaties like CR4 dont always stay on, you may drown or hurt someone while you are learning your job!
