What are the applications of silver gaskets? What are its distinguishing properties for gasket application?

One place (I think) is in chlorine distribution systems. In this instance, the key feature is resistance to corrosion (plus reasonable softness to conform to adjacent surfaces.)

Silver and gold "O" rings are used in mass spectrometers. These rings are of very small sizes and small cross section.

Silver plated copper gaskets are used for high vacuume services at high temperature. Definetly silver and gold have specific properties even platinum rings are also used for similar services.
