Lots of ideas, but based on the information you've give I don't know what would be pertinent.

How are you monitoring the alarms now?

I am sort of confused...

So, what you have today is "... system detect any fault the alarm system wants to produce sound" So, a local alarm that rings/buzzes/honks/beeps/flashes when any defined alarm condition has been met. This detection and annunciation system is in place and functional today. Is this correct?

So, do you wish for this general alarm signal to be sent somewhere? Where? Via what method? Who will respond? Who is to be advised? Are emergency responders automatically advised? If yes, which discipline?

Are these all defined in the thread and I missed it?

Alarm monitoing. I personally am an alarm monitor, I listen for my alarm every morning to get me out of bed.

I know they make alarm monitoring systems for the hearing impaired that listen for audible alarms from other things and convert them to visual alarms. They also make the opposite for visually impared people that monitor for visual alarms and convert them to audible.

I also know of several companies that hav e people standing around monitoring alarms who then pick up a phone or radio to tell someone about it. Usually these people are called "Alarm Monitors" but in one local refiery, they call them "Instrumentation Technicians" (no joke).

Only two.

I have used ADT: They give good service, but charge for it.

The Monitoring Center, which I know nothing about, but they're much cheaper.

If you want some other kind of monitor alarm, for something other than intrusion or fire, you need to specify what you are monitoring, and what the monitor must do, viz. call Police or Fire Dept., send you an e-mail, etc.

As someone said it's pointless to respond with at least some info. I was going to suggest a dog.

Very funny J , yes there should be more information, and there are all kinds of alarm systems available, you can get them to do just about anything you want them to do these days. Even your cell phone can become an alarm monitoring system.

Don't use Monotronics they charge a lot and they make you sign a 3 year contract, if you don't read the fine print. They don't tell you that when you are signing! So beware! ADT is not cheap. There are a lot of other companies that charge less for the same service.
