Affecting Utility Neutral?

02/04/2012 12:08 AM

I have a project which will install 2 x Frame 5 gensets onto a new 33kV board which will also have a connection to the national grid. gensets have 11/33 step up delta star txs with star HV side resistance earthed. These will very ocassionally operate in parallel with the utility which has 132/33 delta delta. How does this set up affect the utility protection?

You really want to be having lunch or a beer with an authorised engineer of the utility you want to sync to.

He/she will let you know exactly what is acceptable and what is prohibited.

This doesn't mean we can't have a technical yarn about your situation. What protection options are you currently exploring by way of preparation for your meeting with the utility?

Have you looked at what others in your geographic area have done or are you a pioneer?
