Self Lubricated Sliding Bearings

What are differnt types of sliding self liubricated bearings? Where they are used? Advantages? Disadvantages? Load bearing capacity? Where I can get more inforation?

Using 'google' I found a nice article about hardwood sliding bearing, made by drilling hardwood blocks and boiling then in nut oil to drive out the water and draw in the oil.
ideal for third world counties amd cheapskate cats.

HDPE is widely used these days as a sliding bearing for junction baseplates in switch-and-crossing material.

The advantage is the virtual elimination of grease maintenance.

You might have more luck using the term "linear bearings"

Graphite, Cast Iron, PTFE, HDPE etc are considered to be good self lubicated sliding bearings. Garaphite powders act as good lubricant for sliding bearings. Load bearing capacity depend on compressive stength of bearing material and area of sliding contact.
