And thanks for all the fish

02/11/2012 12:53 AM

Thank you for your comment to GlobalSpec.

This copy is being sent to you for your records.

Found your website back in '05.
Bought some referenced products (not in significant quantities), played your games, joined the Forum and bought the mug.

Passed the links to your games, your database and your forum to friends, co-workers, employers; carry the coffee mug everywhere.

We are largely made of old fart engineers, we fix peoples problems, recommend products, talk nice about you and your site. By the same token, there is a limit to what we'll put up with from a bunch of high-handed kids.

I haven't been banned yet, but at the rate my friends are I see little point in hanging around what used to be an institution and is now a playground unsupervised.

We never owned the place, we knew it. But we 'felt' pride of ownership by participation. Sadly we are no longer wanted, and those not thrown out are leaving.

We'll miss the place, but I wished to thank you for the years of fun, the engineering challenges, the tussles and arguments that are the real heart of engineering. You allowed a rocking community to build it self, and while it lasted it was great.

Thanks for the excellent website

If you really leave, we will regret to see you go.

There was recently a horrible moderation gaffe that resulted in some tart posts to one "Blair" seeming to be addressed to you instead. I don't know how much that affects your decision.

It is really too bad that CR4 doesn't have just one professional--and paid--moderator who really knows what he/she is doing. One person would be enough for the task, on the basis of two ≤ 4-hour stints per day. (Maximum life of improper posts would then be 8 hours.)

Maybe I was dreaming, but I seem to remember CR$ mugs, T-shirts etc. were on sale for a while.

Hate to see you go!

You are definitely a fixture here and an asset to CR4.

Rather than leaving permanently, how about just an extended time out?

Just a thought.....................................

Whatever your decission, stay well, live long and prosper!

Maybe a time out, work is ramping up massively, so a good time for a break

Time out is good. I had some of that a few years ago. Took me six months to catch up on the bath!

Pop back as and when (be sure to prod me, I'm notoriously unobservant!)

The Blair thread was an epic disaster and should have been shut down early on.

I haven't been banned yet, but at the rate my friends are I see little point in hanging around

I don't understand. Who is being banned and why?

Is an out of control argument now grounds for dismissal? I'd like to know, because I'm far too clumsy to be walking on eggshells.

I don't know what I did to you, but take care. Come on back whenever you feel like it.

Oh I meant nothing against you - sorry, analogies are as dangerous as humor

Was trying to express the feeling that the board is sown with landmines, eggshells don't explode.

Best to you K, and I'll pass through anon

Later Ed, rather than 'Goodbye Ed',

California is heating up, I get little time on this forum now but do enjoy to click back in and see the old stalwarths making their comments.

You replied to some of my queries and I always felt that you added to the layers of experienced and worthwhile commentary. Always thought you were from the Bay Area and felt a certain kinship with you - goes to show California is not so big after all.
