Raising temperature to accelerate moisture evaporation are obvious solutions. Consider the porosity of the cardboard to allow absorbtion of the sodium silicate solution. Also consider the amount of solution applied. Are you applying it as a total surface to surface coverage or have you considered a pattern to provide multilple binding spots? This will provide the spots in addition with accelerated heat to decrease your drying time.
