How about immaculate impregnation?

Accidental impregnation?

Oxymoronic impregnation?

Carbonaceous impregnation?

OK, your turn!

This should pretty much cover it: http://www.ingenieurparadies.de/en/ipar/18155

End of discussion (and ridiculous thread)!

Carbon Graphite:

A mixture would be 80% carbon and 20% graphite. Graphite is a good conductor of heat, a natural lubricant, and has a laminar grain structure similar to a deck of cards, allowing the individual grains to slide over one another. It is this laminar structure that allows the graphite to release from the carbon/ graphite face and deposit on the hard face in the same manner a graphite pencil will write on a sheet of paper.

You have yet to state an opinion, with which we can disagree, or agree, as the case maybe, you see?

From my experience, impregnation is more successful when copious amounts of alcohol are used. Sometimes theobromine (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Theobromine) is useful as a starter to initiate the process.

Sometimes it is preceded by the use of stroboscopic light or exposure to proteins and carbohydrates.

Could you supply a question please, because at the moment it appears you are just fishing for general or technical information that you can easily find with a quick internet search or search of one of the major carbon brush supplier websites.

What does this mean (and it still does not answer any of our questions)?

However did you get a "Master in mechanical engineering" as your profile states when you do not have good communication skills?

Forget answering as I really don't care. I happen to know a fair amount about carbon graphite brush technology and the industry but since you cannot be bothered asking and elaborating on even a sensible question I am not going to bother trying anymore.

Re: Carbon Graphite

Carbon graphite impregnating methods used in powder metallurgy are crucial for improving strength, density, and wear resistance of the final component. Since carbon graphite is naturally porous, impregnation helps fill the open pores and enhances performance in demanding applications like pumps, furnaces, high-temperature bearings, and mechanical seals.

Resin impregnation is indeed one of the most widely used techniques. It provides excellent anti-corrosive properties, good chemical resistance, and improved mechanical stability. It also helps reduce permeability and increases the overall life of the component.

Apart from resin, a few other common impregnation methods include:

1. Metal Impregnation

  • Copper, antimony, and bronze are commonly used.
  • Greatly improves thermal conductivity and load-bearing capacity.
  • Ideal for bushings, bearings, and wear parts.

2. Oil / Lubricant Impregnation

  • Enhances self-lubricating properties.
  • Suitable for applications where continuous lubrication is required.

3. PTFE / Polymer Impregnation

  • Improves frictional characteristics.
  • Used in sealing applications with high chemical exposure.

4. Special Chemical Impregnation

  • Used for specific industrial environments (e.g., acids, alkalis, high vacuum).
  • Helps increase resistance and reduce porosity for critical applications.

Each impregnation type is selected based on the operating environment, temperature, chemical exposure, load, and speed of the application.
