Field Bus Cable

Hi all,

Please give me the solution for,

1. What is the maximum lenth of Field bus cable will be used to instruments from the local junction box?

2. Any alternate if exceeds the said length?

3. If there is the maximum length limitations what is the reason ?

Please explain your length units. "M" is the pre-fix for "Mega" meaning 106.

Surely the maximum length is the same as that of a piece of string?

Are the figures given for copper wire or fibre optics?
