WEG Drives

When did WEG started designing and building adjustable speed drives?

I know that WEG motors have been around since the 1960's but what about their VFD's? I find nothing on their site on this.

Variable frequency drive. WEG is the brand name.

Weg started offerring VFDs about 10 years ago in Brazil but they were not UL listed for a long time so we didn't see them here in the US.

They are junk. I tried using them twice because the price was good and I assumed the first problem was a fluke. it wasn't.

Guys,

I was talking about references on the WEG site of when they started making drives, not technical information.

I am considering Danfoss drive since they are the only ones i have found with enclosure rating nema 4X that does not require AC units for output ratings of 60 HP.

Any thoughts?

1981 Weg Acionamentos established (acionamentos = drives)

those were drives with SCRs, not IGBTs.
