What are the Odds?

03/16/2012 8:50 AM

I just was looking over some pictures that were from India at This Post.

Nothing extraordinary, right?

WRONG!

Look at the reply titled No Way.

It's the same guy photographed by two completely different strangers with the same make/model camera and the same lens, 8 days apart!

There are 1.16 billion souls living in India.

There used to be a bagpiper who spent his days at Gretna Green. Slip him £1 and he would pose for a photo, no tip and he would turn his back.

Greta Green was just on the Scottish side of the border and people could get married there without parental consent.

I don't see it. They look like different people to me, but with some of the same clothes, esp the scarf.

If I read the responding posts correctly, the one photographer confirms it is the same guy.

I agree with Mike. The beards are different colours - no-one goes from grey to white in 8 days.

The nose is different too.

It is far more likely that these are guards at a temple (I'm guessing Skih) which would explain the uniform. The second gentleman has a far more regal bearing.

It's very difficult to ascertain if it's the same person......those glasses are throwing me off!

Anyhow, those are great cameras used to take the pics.....but nearly $7,000 for a Leica M9? Yousers, you'd think the photogs were made of money, eh???!!!!

Add another $3,000 to $5,000 for the lens.

Way out of my budget.

For that money you better buy a Phantom (≈10K)and get tons more of scientifically-oriented fun.

Capt Moosie-

I see significant differences in the beard and mustache (the "No Way" beard appears shorter, more color in the mustache and below the mouth in the original- but that might be a lighting effect) also, but the nose is darker than the rest of the face in both pictures...

Put in that way, it sounds amazing; but very often you ask before you travel and if you visit some places of interest the locals (or your connationals who've been there), give you the same references of places or remarkable people, I guess.

Small world networks constrained by Geography.

The clothing is identical to the priest At a hindu wedding I attended last summer, so ceremonial availability may increase the visibility.

what are the odds of two people from different parts of the same country take the same photo of the same soldier of the Household Cavalry outside Buckingham Place?

Not that he is not an interesting character, but I think they would sell a lot more cameras if they included someone more like this.

I think I'm missing something here are these the two photos?

Surely the second guy is much younger than the first?
