Why is it tha the machine slows down after it has been laoded?

do you mean a generater driven by an engine? if so, check the fuel flow and the governor.

Perhaps you are referring to the moment that a unit is synchronised? then the reason would be because the governor is set to system speed to synchronise, and at system speed when you synchronise the governor is not set for any load, then post #4 above applies.

A- Overloaded

B- Faulty Speed Governing System

C- Driver faults

It could be perfectly normal. OP doesn't say what the machine is, but for an ordinary electric motor (induction) the speed falls from close to synchronous at no-load, to maybe 97% of that (3% slip) at full load.

The OP doesn't say what or who is loaded either. There's not even a hint how loaded it is. (Well maybe the spelling is a hint.)
