New Form of Energy or Matter?

No help here. But I've always felt as if we are missing something. Something very big, and that exists right under our noses.

Damned if I can identify it.

I can't help but feel though, as if one day we are going to slap ourselves upside our collective head and say.........................how did we miss that? Duh!!!

The possibility that some force is effecting the random decay of particles is exciting....It could be some sort of time interference or quantum gravity waves, or spooky quantum entanglement...These particles are so small and difficult to observe in any way, it seems more and more we are dependent on software applications that we can program to mimic the behavior we observe, and then determine what is happening by subjecting it to random forces, then finding a matching result, try to figure out what could cause it....

The global warming computer models, (for example), are getting pretty thrashed as of late.

Of course we deserve it, for trying to program emotions into weather patterns. Stupid humans!!!

It's a shame that religious talk is banned on here.................not really. But if anyone can prove the existence of God..............................it will be physicists. I think they will break things down to the point, that something, (consciousness), outside of ourselves exists.......................and they will provide scientific evidence.

Quite frankly, I think they are already there..................and afraid to announce their findings. Not proof of God per se, but proof that we really don't have a clue about anything.

Last I read they are pouring over all of the data from the LHC and think they have glimpsed the Higs boson (A.K.A. "God Particle"). This will be confirmed or denied near the end of 2012.

There does seem to be a conflict btwn 12C and 14C. Based on all I have read, I have no idea who is more accurate. It's looking more of a political issue then anything else.

Anyway, here is another question, that may have a simple answer that I may be too

simple to answer:

The natural course of the universe seems to be entropy. Disorganization.Chaos.Dispersal.Repulsion from other matter.

How can such a universe:

Combine,organize,and create structure?

And create interacting,cooperative,"intelligent" creatures that are capable of sustaining and reproducing that organization repeatedly?

If we are merely a step in the inevitable path of entropy, then we are devolving from a more organized,more intelligent state.

Perhaps the Buddhists are right:("We are one with everything.)

(Or at least we once were)

Every molecule that ever existed in this universe has the same origin( According to the BB theory):, a Singularity.

So by extension, we are all parts of a greater whole.That which affects one, affects all.

I could get really philosophical on this bit, but that is not my intent on this forum.

So the question remains:Are we evolving or devolving?

Ego says we are evolving, but physics says otherwise.

Or does it?

Perhaps we do not yet know enough about our universe to make that call.

We have gotten onto a false path at some point in our theories,and I do not claim to have the answers.

How could a group of atoms self organize that produces more energy(on a pound per pound basis) that a star,(As all mammals do, by the way),be self aware and look back on itself and ponder these questions?

Perhaps we are an attempt of the universe to see and understand itself.

We could be merely a sensory device of the universe.

Here's what's messing up your mind: The Edwardian (if not Victorian) idea of entropy as a lack of order. Every time I hear that phrase ("a lack of order"), I fell like kicking a puppy, I swear!!!

Let's think of entropy as a measure of the distribution of energy within a system. When energy is highly unevenly undistributed, "work" is possible. When energy is completely distributed evenly, no work is possible with that energy. I mean, what is more orderly than every sub-atomic particle being evenly distributed throughout all of space/time.

Another thing to consider is that several isotopes of thorium have a half-life (HALF-LIFE) of 10 to the 14th power years; that's longer than the Universe has been around! Also, all the thorium that can be made and will be made hasn't even started ticking down yet. Seems to me like the Universe is going to be around for an awfully long time.
