A possible strike by petrol (gas) tanker drivers which would have required 7 days warning anyway was stirred up into panic buying by politicians.
An idiot member of Parliament suggested storing petrol in cans in the home.
Of course the next day some poor woman has 40% burns after decanting petrol in her kitchen.
It's a classic case of reporting 'News' before it happens and creating panic.
The governments excuse is that it was making contingency plans by training up the army to drive the tankers in case of a panic.
OK that may be a sensible thing to do, but they didn't have to publicise it.
Do they admit to mishandling the situation?
Oh, and why were they threating to strike anyway?
Yup... it was mostly about safety concerns

PS. In an attempt to get the situation back to normal the government has relaxed the rules about how many hours a driver can be at the wheel... D'uh? So that's another safety breach...<slaps furry head with paw>
