Thermal Power Plant-Doubt

04/02/2012 11:45 PM

Dear all,

Normally in main stop valves and RSV valves there is one capillary line called leak off line, i.e. a quantum of steam is leaked from the valve and enter into the GSC (Gland Steam Condenser).

Can anybody point the reason of it.?

Thanks in advance

Reheat steam valves are to protect turbine from overspeed, it is a safety control device....

The line that you refer to is usually a bleed off line for a balanced valve. Look the drawing over and see if the valve evacuates a cylinder shaped area. You may also see piston rings.
