A letter of credit is a note from the bank giving your approximate financial status and that they have done business with you for so many years and find you to be trustworthy and reliable and that you maintain accounts in said bank with balances low or high 5,6 or 7 figure range...This together with contact information and bank references, and/or endorsements, guarantees etc...

We often sell goods under letter of credit terms, it's worth noting that these often have fairly tight expiry dates. If your product or service is delayed for any reason the LoC might have to be re-issued before you can be paid.
