How to Facilitate Conversion Mechanical Pedaling to Electrical Energy?

04/15/2012 10:43 AM

Generator principle applied to bicycle

Also need assistance for: Calculations involving the design of a hubgear for a bicycle?

I'm not a good peddler......................can I get a bicycle with a motor on it?

Yes, and a sail, and a wind generator and a solar panel and a lightning rod to pull electricity right out of the air to power the motor.

Then you'll need 5, 12V batteries to store all the excess power you will be making. You can put them on a trailer with wheels with built-in generators to add even more power.

If you want a stationary generator, just put the contraption on a tread mill hooked up to another generator and you can sell the excess back to the power company.

You forgot magnets.......................without magnets, none of it can happen.

15000 posts. I gave you another GA.

If only there was a way to capture the power of your intellect. We wouldn't have to be thinking about bicycles.

Bicycles are evil.

LynDoor™ Industries "Bench Racer" bench bicycle seats saves your privates for more sporting "action", off the pedals.

I never really got to talk about bicycles. My fear of of clowns has left me emotionally crippled since I was about 5.

You should fear the seat, not the clown. The clown wouldn't dare do to you what the seat does.

Hire four riders of Tour de France standard. They can burn through a thousand watts for about six hours. Of course, they need to eat as many Kcalories plus some for their body functions, say a total of seven thousand Kcalories a day. Cheap electricity? That was rider output, it must be reduce by the inefficiency of the conversion.

A big enough motor could run the bicycle, AND charge the battery to run the motor!!

thats how alt energy works, isnt it? Just need a motor at 115% efficiency..

The Physics principle is known as Faraday's Law of Induction. Look it up and study this. It will be on your final exam. I guarantee this.

Malfunction ALERT.

The "GA" button seems to be stuck.

It's all your fault. I told you it was a bad idea to get friends and relatives to register and give you GAs.

GAs or not, my draw to CR4 is, (and will always be), being in a room full of people, who all think they are the smartest person in the room. Endless entertainment.

Every time I try to get friends and relatives on CR4, it only serves to solidify their idea that I'm out of my mind.

My retort?

Hey...........................at least I have friends. I don't know who they are, but I know they are real.

Stepping in it again.

Yes indeed!

We can take an answer and turn it into a question....................from there, we can take a question and turn it into a fight. Who needs google?

I caught, "One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest", the other night..............again. Not as good as the book, but the similarities to CR4 are uncanny.

See the movie Soylent Green. You're good for about 60 sustained watts.

Are you saying that I can actually generate enough energy to dig my own grave?

No. You will be cremated by power generated by 5000 peddlers, each generating 60 watts.

Lets see, at a generator speed of 3600 R/M, the peddlers legs will fall off... when...hmmm

gear reduction of 60:1 at e = 45%, and overall system losses at square root of infinity.

YEP, itll work.

What, oh, what to do with the 10 watts it generates?

What you want is a dynamo...

This is pretty cool...

Like this, built into hub...
