Guideline for CT and PT Ratio Selection for an Energy Meter

05/05/2012 3:28 AM

Dear Forum members,

I am doing research work on drilling of a glass fiber reinforced polyester resin composite.

During this process, I am recording energy consumed during drilling of this composite by varying its glass fiber percent proportion. The energy meter I am using is a CE certified Nanovip meter.

My question is how to select CT and PT ratio for a particular job? Should it be different for steel, aluminium, wood or say for composites?

Are any guideline available for the same?

Thanking you.

What is the anticipated current for the drill motor; what current range does the meter accept as input? Similarly, what is the motor voltage, and what voltage input does the meter accept?

Thank you very much.

Today I drilled the fiber reinforced plastic sample with a 10 mm drill and noted the results with the energy meter. Can you please provide me your e-mail id so that I can send the output screen to you and present CT and PT ratio for further evaluation.

Nice little meter:

There's even enough information on their website for a qualified technician to answer OP's questions in combination with Tornado's suggestions, and a little effort and experimentation on OPs part.
