Hmm, I'm only posting so I get subscribed to this (yes, I know I could do so anyway). First question, what is an 'accident' ? An unplanned event that has negative consequence ?

I'm fairly pedestrian, and public road crossings baffle me. Etherville is fairly small, but has a busy road running thru it. As drivers approach a pedestrian crossing they seem to go 'strange'. Green light is, fair enough, continue driving. Amber is 'just a suggestion', and red is a sort of 'would you mind pausing'. I've seen colleagues killed at work, but on an almost daily basis I seen the described event. Driving thru amber (no offence) is frequent, and driving thru red is about 25%. Just shot myself in the foot - that's not an 'unplanned event'.

Tell me of an "accident". Hindsight is a wonderful thing, but hopefuly you see where I'm going. Is an 'accident' unplanned/unforseen/caused by ignorance etc etc.

Accident is an undesirable or unfortunate happening that occurs unintentionally and usually results in harm, injury, damage, or loss; casualty; mishap: automobile accidents.

Near miss is an incident that should've caused harm or casualty but luckily escaped it this time

I digress (hence OT'ing myself). 'An accidental discovery' ? Pythagoros may have never had a bath (), and I'm sure Newton never got hit on ther head by an apple.

Sorry, it's the weekend. Extreme disection will get us back to your question. For what it's worth, I opine it's one of those deciptively good ones.

I have a bounty of answers - can you narrow it down a bit ? 'DIY disaster', 'things at work that keft me stunned', etc. Even a simple 'what did you do today that gave you pause to reflect'.

My minion is near finnished, so I must log-out to check progress........

Found a "Near mess or Accident" on my sofa the other day. Think my daughter's ex-BF had the "accident" while kipping there. I don't think it was not an accident (i.e. I don't think it was intentional). It was definitely not a near mess - it was a full-on mess.

Mr's K tell me that a good routine is to use a sledgehammer on the sheets and duvet. After that, any decent biological powder will do the job.

I came near this mess the other day.

I'm thankful for two things:

1. Thankful I didn't step in it.

2. Thankful cows don't fly.

Near misses should receive more attention than they usually do. They typically go unreported, thereby losing an opportunity to consider safety improvements before a full accident occurs.
