High Current in UPS Out

05/14/2012 12:17 AM

A (3P-In 3P out) ups log obtained during a switching of a generator (ATS transferring), indicates an overload current (3-4 times In) of a phase at the output side, for about 1 second.

The electronic equipment load connected to this ups also has burnt.

The UPS is double conversion type.

Can we tell that. the cause of burning of load due to switching in the input side????.

Any other reasons???

The cause is two things. The first is a fault in the electronic equipment connected to it and the second is an inappropriate setting for the overload protection device in the UPS.

Thanks for your reply,

I need further clarification regarding the inappropriate settings....

What sort of protection, internally given by this type of UPS, for this kind of overloading.

Thank you.

The overload device setting must be below the lowest calculated current-carrying capacity of the cables feeding the UPS and its load, and at the full load current of the load device. If one of these conditions cannot be satisfied, then either the cables are too small or the UPS is too small.

Is there overvoltage protection on this equipment?

UPS spec says

it says voltage stability at, dynamic state as +/-5%

voltage stability, at static state- +/- 1%.

THKS!
