Transformer Markings

06/04/2012 7:56 AM

Hello

Anyone has an idea what these markings on a transformer really mean:

TSE 240V 14V

6170JB2005A 99 03 08

I know that its a stepdown transformer from 240V to 14V.

I think 99 03 08 is manufacture date.

No idea about the rest.

I need to evaluate the power/VA and current carrying capacity of the primary & secondary windings.

Thanks

This could be the transformer part number specific to the manufacturer.

I believe it's made by the TAESUNG ELECTRNICS CO. LTD. of South Korea.

Best I can do in the time.

I think you got it wrong. Its TSE and NOT TSF.

TAESUNG ELECTRONICS CO.LTD makes welding machines with TSF??? model format.

But thanks anyway for trying to help.

if you can get to the actual winding (will have to gut a slit into the outer insulating paper) to determine wire gauge using a micrometer or digital vernier - I'll be able to tell you the VA rating and then your respective current ratings will be known...no need to scrape the insulation off the wire either as it's u sually thin enough of a coating to not influence the standard wire guages available. I'm a transformer manufacturer. let me know what voltage-winding you are measuring too.

Cheers
