CT Rating

06/11/2012 4:18 AM

the incomer MCCB rating is 100A. there is a requirement for Ammeter and voltmeter. The CT for the ammeter used has to be 20VA as per the client requirement. i have used a CT 150/1A 20VA CT. even 100/1A CT is available but it is of long delivery, bigger in dimension & expensive than 150/1A CT. CT type is RT (indoor type in Air). make is ITL (UK). my question is whether this kinda connection breaches any international standards ? Please Explain me how I can explain my client technically that it is acceptable to use 150/1A CT instead of 100/1A CT.

Just put a bit of tape on the meter. Divide by 66.6%

Problem solved!

What accuracy class is the CT, if it's a high accuracy one, and you have set the meter to 150/1 to match the CT it's really not going to make any difference.

Are they analogue meters? seems a very high VA rating requirement for a digital meter

Accuracy Class1.

Yes, they are analogue meters.

High VA rating because The CT provided for Ammeter in the distribution board is also used for current indication to SCMS (Substation Control & Monitoring System)
