Siemens Steam Turbine

06/14/2012 5:54 AM

i work in steam power plant now we will go to update the control system for the Turbine control system because there are alot of problem related to the spare parts for the modules and electronic parts.

the old system is from siemens to control 330MW steam turbine and as happened no spare part are availiable and should be replaced.

now we issue a bid to update the system and some company as ABB, Emerson and of course siemens are competed to win.

the problem is ABB and Emerson had some deviation :

1- required the geometrical and matrials parameters for TSE (turbine stress evaluators)configration.

2-for turbine stress calculation both contractor need some detailed information related to matrial dimension...... ETC.

for siemens every thing is ok because it has all of these data but its price is twice.

Thanks

If you want accurate bids that all represent the actual SOW, you must provide ALL bidders with the SAME information and bid documents.

Of course Siemens is "competed" to win, it is a Siemens turbine. Siemens had better technical information on the turbine.

Of course ABB and Emerson had some deviation. Without adequate technical information, they had to make many assumptions to cover themselves that most likely increased their bid price.

If Siemens is aware the other bidders did not have the needed technical information to bid, you most likely received an inflated Siemens Bid.

By not providing the other bidders with the information Siemens had, you did yourself no favors.

What was the point of your post?

So even without all the data Emmerson and ABB still managed to provide a proposal with some dependencies on more information....

Give them the information.

Of course you may be concerned that the non-Siemens bidders may not have it quite right.

Factor of 2 in the pricing......Siemens may not be gouging you they may be realistic.

You have 3 Options:

1) give ABB & Emerson the inforrmation.

2) give order to Siemens.

3) Your Boiler + Steam Turbines already paid back. Sell and replace complete on EPC. minus the sell-amount and you are in a better position price-wise & system-wise.
